Chatbot asks user for input on a timer but times out

My company has a policy and procedures situation that I’m trying to automate. In the condition for this P&P employees have to notify a colleague of the instance, then a colleague has to call or text the employee every 10-15 minutes for a simple update until the employee says that the instance is complete. You can probably imagine the headache that this causes and for such an automateable task. Since we already have a Chatbot that we use a lot I though I’d add a topic in that could automate this. I’ve attempted 2 separate mechanisms for achieving this.

1) I created a flow that sets a timer and doesn’t complete the flow until the time has elapsed. The issue I’m having with this option is that the Chatbot times out on the flow after only a couple of minutes causing a timeout error. 
2) To work around that shortcoming I tried having the bot loop between current time and checkin time by calling two flows and having a bot condition that if false causes it to continue looping between the flows until the condition checks true. The problem here is that as soon as the bot detects the loop it throws an infinite loop error (even though the loop is not infinite, it simply needs ten minutes to check true).

So, in closing, is there a way to edit the timeout threshold or disable the loop detection? Or is there another way to achieve my aims in the Chatbot that I’ve overlooked? Any help is greatly appreciated. TIA!
