Link empty node to existing message

Can someone please tell me the trick to linking an empty node to an existing node or message? Right now I am having to add an empty message, drag the dot to the existing message, then go up to the top right and delete the empty message. What am I missing? I've tried on both Edge and Chrome and seems the same in both.

Thanks @renatoromao That was it - I was skipping right past the circle that appears when you click 'add a node'. It's a bit hard to see in your video as it's covered by the progress bar, but your video helped. Thanks for taking the time to make it!
