Approval timeout bug

I am seeing a bug with approval step timeout. The approval in the dashboard is active even after the approval step has timed out. When manager clicks approve or reject after the timeout, it shows a “succcessfully registered” message and does not give an error as written in the MS Documentation.

 

I also have cases where the approval is older than 30 days, but not cancelled and manager can approve without any errors. This is a bug. 

 

I am using create an approval V2 and wait for approval V2 actions in my flow.

I tried also with start and wait for approval action and get the same result.

@ananda-vadivela We found a solution for our organization. We now update the cds record when the approval wait times out.

 

Couple things to note:

1. Configure the run-after to only run when the wait times-out.

2. Reference the approval ID of the "Create an Approval" task, not the "Wait..." task.

3. You'll need to grant access to the owner of the flow to edit the Approvals entity in cds. Our 365 admin did this, not exactly sure how.

I am also seeing this issue in our system and it is a big problem for us.

 

From the way I see it, if the approval times out, then users should no longer be able to see it in their action items.
