Re: Cannot add Hyperlink while updating ADO workitem

I found a solution - see my post at https://powerusers.microsoft.com/t5/Building-Flows/How-can-I-add-a-Hyperlink-to-a-DevOps-work-item-u... where I describe using "the Send an HTTP Request to Azure DevOps" action.

Re: Cannot add Hyperlink while updating ADO workitem

Hi @leocrimson ,

Are there any documents available for reference to implement the requirements of add hyperlink? Please provide more details about it.

As far as I know, Update a work item action seems to only be used to update the value of a field that already exists in the work item. And you seem to want to add fields.

Re: Cannot add Hyperlink while updating ADO workitem

@v-bacao-msft I do not have any reference for the requirements of adding hyperlink. But I see it as a common thing to do in our team. Do you mean to say I cannot add any stuff in link section of ADO?

Re: Cannot add Hyperlink while updating ADO workitem

Hi @leocrimson ,

I can't confirm this. I have never done similar operations, so I ask if you have done similar operations or have reference documents to guide us to achieve such requirements.

Have you ever tried to directly configure the Link URL / Link Type / Link Comment fields to achieve the need to add a hyperlink, this seems to fit well with what you want to do.

Re: Cannot add Hyperlink while updating ADO workitem

I can find this in the docs https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/rest/api/azure/devops/wit/work%20items/update?view=azure-devops-res...

I have tried Link URL, Link Type. However, it does not add URL as hyperlink.

Re: Cannot add Hyperlink while updating ADO workitem

@leocrimson I think you have the same need as me to add a link (URL) to a DevOps Work Item. My post is https://powerusers.microsoft.com/t5/Building-Flows/How-can-I-add-a-Hyperlink-to-a-DevOps-work-item-u... and I am awaiting a satisfactory solution. In my case, I am trying to link a Work Item to a MSFT Dynamics CRM Order record URL. This can be done through the DevOps Web user interface by selecting the Links page and then using the "Add Link" option of "Existing Item" and then selecting Hyperlink as the Link Type. Any properly formatted URL can be linked through the UI. I just need to do it in a Flow as you are requesting. If you found a solution, I would love to know.

@v-bacao-msft I think we are both asking for the Create and Update Work Item Flow actions to allow a Hyperlink - just as the Web UI does. The only options are for link types on the Flow update are for related items. See the screen shot below:
