Cannot update Azure DevOps work item for "Other Fields"

I have created a very simple flow that triggers when a Azure DevOps work item is modified. The Action is intended to update the same work item , to add in a Custom field Custom_A a computing a value from three different other fields: Custom_B x Custom_C x Custom_D.

To update "Other Fields" there is a Key and a value to define:

Key = dynamic value : set to field Custom_A

Value= Expression: mul(triggerBody()?['Fields']?['CustomB'], mul(triggerBody()?['Fields']?['Custom_C'],triggerBody()?['Fields']?['Custom_D']))

It does not work. I get back messages :

- Field Custom_A is not a field in process...

or  "10" (with 10 = value of  field Custom_A) is not a valid field

Am I using the "Other Fields"  wrongly or is it not working properly?

Hi @IulianaIonita ,

I have tested on my side, you need to specify Project Name and Work Item Type first, the custom fields will be automatically displayed, and then you could configure accordingly.

Please also make sure to create custom field in the correct way, please refer to the relevant online doc:

The solutino provided is great, just what I was expecting to have in. Seeing that it work in a picture, gives me hope to have it working in my case too.

Unfortunatelly, it does not work just yet for me. The custom fields do not show up in the list, not even after choosing the project and work item type. The custom fields were created as described. I do not know if there is any other way to create fields, but as described ...

What could I be missing to get to select the custom fields?

Was there any resolve on this? I am facing the same issue.

Not sure if you were able to find a solution, If not then here it is:

If your fields are not showing in the list, then type the exact name of the field in the "Enter Key" box besides 'Other Fields'.

For "Enter Value" you can choose a Dynamic field.

It worked for me.

Can you provide a sample screenshot and code on how you are passing the values and the settings in flow.  I've tried every combination of this and I'm getting no where!

I am using the above screenshot as reference.

Marked th steps as 1 and 2 in the screenshot

1. Type the exact Name of the custom field as you see in your Azure WorkItem in teh "Enter Key" box (highlighted as 1 in red)

2. Select "Enter Value" box and either add dynamic or function based on your preference (highlighted as 2 in blue)

This works for me, share the screenshots (Azure workitem page and the flow) of what you are trying, may that way we can correct it.

Hi, I'm facing the same problem and I did everything you've suggested the problem is that I'm getting error cause the field is detected as "0".

Error when testingError when testing

The only diff. between cases I can think of is that I have a lot of fields in my form.

Nevermind, I fixed the problem by manually typing the field name and NOT using dynamic data...

How this helps if anyone encounters such an issue.
