MS Flow + One Note + &'s in one note name

Ran into an issue with MS Flow not properly encoding the Notebook Key when trying to do pretty much anything associated with notebooks.

How to reproduce:  Create a one note notebook with a title that includes an & (such as Peanut Butter & Jelly).  Save to sharepoint as you normally would.

Create a MS Flow that attempts to make a section in the one note above.  You will receive a 20143 error when the flow attempts to run.

How to work around:  After the flow fails, go into the failure reporting, and copy the notepad key from the details, it will look something like this:   Peanut Butter & Jelly |$|https://someurlforsharepoint/peanut butter & Jelly.

Within your flow, instead of selecting the book in the dropdown, choose "custom value", and paste the key you just copied above.  In the first portion of the key, replace the & with a %26 ( so it says Peanut Butter %26 Jelly |$|https://someurlforsharepoint/peanut butter & Jelly ).  Do not change the & in the URL.

Save and test the flow, it will function fine.

Probable Cause: It doesnt appear MS Flow properly encodes the notebook name when doing things, so it corrupts the query because it sees the & and assumes theres another variable being passed.  I didn't test it with other characters, but it might impact others as well, such as ?

Re: MS Flow + One Note + &'s in one note name

Hi @Ian1 ,

Thanks for feedback.

The issue could be reproduced by me. I will help report it.

By the way, I have made another tests with characters @ and -, both of them are working properly.

As a temporary workaround, please use @ instead. I will back to you once I got any updates.

Best regards,

Mabel
