I have an MS Flow configured to run on Item Modify event in a list.
However this trigger on item create event itself and during item update as well. But when i check workflow history, it appears under "Checks no new data " .when an item is updated and flow actions are not getting completed and gets skipped.
why this happens ?is it a bug?
My apologies but I am not entirely sure what you are asking. However, there is no trigger that fires only when a SharePoint item is modifird - there is a trigger that fires when a new item is created and another that fires on created and modified.
If you started from a template, the template name says "when modified" but it uses the created or modified trigger.
@ScottShearer : yes i am using the template "when the item is modified".
But when my list item is modified, the flow is not triggered. when i check the flow run history, i can find that ,that instance is displayed under "checks no new data" instead of a successfull run.
why this happens, even though fields are actually modified?
@mahesh_mohan: Please post a screen shot of you Flow so that I can better assist.
@ScottShearer I have attached a screen shot of my flow. As can be seen from the image, under flow history, i can find 2 instances under "Check no new instance" which did not trigered any emails.
And i could find 1 instance under successfull which triggerd the email.
Thanks for sharing the screenshot.
Are you using template When an item in a SharePoint list is modified send an email? I have started a flow from it for testing.
When I modified an item in the list, the flow could be triggered properly and an email could be sent out successfully.
Could you please check All runs instead of Checks (no new data)? Will you get run histories from All runs?
I am using the template "when item is created or modified". I can find a successfull entry under All runs as well.
But if you see the below screen shot, you can notice that my flow gets triggered in every 1 hour ,even though no one was using my sharepoint list. I am the only user who have access currently.
why this happens so.
Thanks for feedback.
I guess that flow will check the database automatically almost every 1 hour to see if there are any changes happened.
The issue could be checked by me. It seems that flow will check the database every 1 hour from the time it was triggered.
There was no action made to the list on the highlighted run though.
If possible, I will help confirm it from my side.
