OneDrive 'Find Files in Folder by path' doesn't work correctly

This action simply doesn't work correctly.

1: This file IS NOT located in '/Expense Reports'. It is located in the root folder. 2: This is not a valid path. This is the file's name.1: This file IS NOT located in '/Expense Reports'. It is located in the root folder. 2: This is not a valid path. This is the file's name.

See my screenshot above, marked with "1" and "2".

2: This is NOT the path. This is the file's name.

What gives?

Re: OneDrive 'Find Files in Folder by path' doesn't work correctly

Hi @Apruzr ,

You could make a test as my screenshot below:

You could choose the path from the Folder Field, and the file path would returned in the output.

Best regards,

Re: OneDrive 'Find Files in Folder by path' doesn't work correctly

Update: 'Find files in folder' action (using the Folder Id instead of path) has the exact same issue. Both are non-functional. This is going to require an extremely complicated workaround for me, since the old 'List files in folder' action that allowed you to include sub-folders has been deprecated. So frustrating!

1: This file is not located in the specified Folder. It is in the root folder. 2: Not a valid Path.1: This file is not located in the specified Folder. It is in the root folder. 2: Not a valid Path.1: This file IS located in the folder. 2: However, this is NOT the path.1: This file IS located in the folder. 2: However, this is NOT the path.

Given that the Path is not being returned, there is no way to filter these results. Both of these actions are unusable.

Hi @Apruzr ,

I would make a test on my side and reply here once the issue is confirmed.

Re: OneDrive 'Find Files in Folder by path' doesn't work correctly

Hi @Apruzr ,

I have made a test on my aide and don't have the issue that you mentioned.

I find that you choose the OneDriveSearch in the File Search Mode field, you need to choose the Pattern in the File Search Mode field.

"Search" mode searches your OneDrive using the search query (similar a normal search engine). When "Regular Expression Pattern Match" mode is selected, the search query will be treated as a regex pattern, and it will return files with names that match the query

Please refer to link below to learn more about the connectors:

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/connectors/onedriveforbusiness/#find-files-in-folder

Re: OneDrive 'Find Files in Folder by path' doesn't work correctly

Ok, well that’s pretty complicated. I don’t really know how to write those, but are you saying the only way to limit your results to A FOLDER is to use a regex expression? Why is the folder path a required field then, if it’s going to be ignored? And why is the action have “in Folder” right in the name? Also, how do I write a regex expression that looks in a specific folder? Doesn’t a regex expression only apply to the file’s name?
Can you give me an example of a regex expression to search in a specific folder?
What about the path not being returned?
