Update SharePoint Item Loop

Hi all,

I know there am some topics about this. But I never saw an answer from Microsoft so

if a flow triggers on update item and you update a SharePoint item in your flow causes flow to fire again and again.

Sry Microsoft but this is a huge bug. Is this in on any Backlog from Microsoft to be fixed in the future or should I tell my customers the old SharePoint Designer workflows are the better solution to work with in SharePoint?

Kind regards

Benjamin

You can use an account with something like (Admin) in the display name, then set a condition to look at who last modified the item.  This will prevent a loop as long as the (Admin) account is used for the connection at the start and the points were "update item" happen in the flow.   Keep in mind that if another user updates/saves the flow then you could see this set up not work. Hopefully MS fixes infinite loops (or provides some other solutions) as they are deprecating designer workflows...

Yea, designer workflows are a nice way to prevent this but slowly being removed from tenants as they are deprecated.  Nintex is a great solution as well, hopefully MS will solve the issue soon as well!
