When a file is deleted - SharePoint action not retrieving all file information

Hello everyone,

Here is a picture of my issue:

WAFID.PNG

The flow that depends on it used to work normally until recently. This action executes successfully but the information are no more provided. Based on the underlined information, some actions are taken later in the flow. I think the problem comes from Microsoft Flow itself.

Please do help, it is really urgent !

Thanks in advance Smiley Happy

Hi @phi1618 ,

Thanks for feedback.

It is a known issue for trigger When a file is deleted. A few weeks ago, we need to stop returning data (such as file name) for deleted items because it was found that there was a potential security vulnerability related to that.

Currently, the only data you get back from When a file is deleted is the item’s ID and the deletion time.

We recognize that this is not very useful, and are in the process of deciding what to do about this feature now…

Best regards,

Mabel

What is the workaround for this failure. I have built several flows that depend on knowing the filename and extention of the file that is deleted. Of course none of them work now. Is this going to be fixed? When?

The workaround I used was "Alert me" feature on the document library with "Items are deleted" option to receive an email on file deletion. Works perfectly!

Hi @v-yamao-msft , have you some new information about the future with this problem? It's still giving information mentioned above.

Thanks

@v-yamao-msft @TomasG

I also am wondering if there is new information about the future of the problem and if there are any current workarounds. One that I saw that might work is to restore the filed with an HTTP request, get metadata, then redelete the file. But that isn't an optimized workaround.

Below is the article for how to restore a file from the recycle bin once deleted for reference:

Restore Deleted Item in SharePoint Online Document... - Power Platform Community (microsoft.com)

Let me know if there are any developments.

Thanks!
