When adding guest accounts to a Team they appear in Teams as a member, not a guest.

I have a Flow to allow external users to automatically join a community Team in MS Teams. The basic Flow is


  1. Users complete a MS Form
  2. Flow Triggers
  3. Details are added to a SharePoint List
  4. Using an HTML call and the Graph API a guest account is created in our Azure AD
  5. The account is added to the O365 Group underpinning the Team

It all works fine except in Teams the user is shown as a Member, with the option to make them an owner from the drop down when they should be shown as a guest.  I didn't think you could even add guest accounts as anything other than Guest.  In Azure AD it looks correct as shown here :


But in Teams it is wrong (the first account shown is my internal account, the second is the external account I am testing with)



Functionally it seems to work fine, but clearly something is wrong here
