Allow users to assign Security Role to a Canvas App

Hi,

I have built a Canvas application that connects to data stored in Dataverse Tables.

This application uses custom Security Roles ("Administrator" and "User").

I want to let an application administrator ("Administrator" security role) to share the application by himself and assign the security role to the users. However, the administrator can't select a security role in the "Share" dialog box. The drop down is grayed out with the "Only admins can assign roles" message :

When I give the administrator the "System Administrator" security role, everything is working fine. He can select a role. However, if I create a custom security role with a full control on everything (all permissions selected), he has the message and can't select a role.

I also tried copying the "System Administrator" security role and assigning it to my administrator, but it doesn't work.

It seems as if Power Apps checks specificaly for the "System Administator" security role.

Am I missing something ?

Thanks !

Hi @RemiChambard3,

Some of the predefined security roles such as System Administrator, System Customizer, Environment Admin, and Environment Maker can't be cloned with exact like for like behavior. These are special roles where some platform functions specifically require that role to be assigned.
