How to resolve the business management error? The error occurs when we try to assign a security role to a user. First it asks to enter a name for the parent organisation, when we give a name and try to save, it doesnโt get saved and gives this error.
Based on the error message - you cannot have the same record as the parent and child business unit.
Also if that business unit was automatically created- then you cannot change it ( It is usually created when you provision an instance for the first time)
Make sure that the user you are trying to assign the security role belongs to that business unit.

Could you please share a bit more about your scenario?
According to the error message that you provided, it seems to tell that the current Business Unit belong to a child unit and a parent unit of same Business Unit, which is not allowed within D365 Business Management mechanism.
On your side, please check if the current Business Unit belongs to a child unit and a parent unit of same Business Unit in your D365 Business Management System. Please go to your D365 Business Units Managements portal, then check the details for your current Business Unit.
