I have an entity with a few thousand records in it. I want to create a copy of one field including its content. It there a quick and clean way to do that. I dont want to just create an new field and copy data using some external mechanism. Would be cool to just create a copy of that field.
I'm sorry, I'm a little unclear on the requirement. You want to create a copy within the same entity or copy it into another entity? What do you plan to use it for?
Hi @Symira ,
There isn't a mechanism within CDS to copy a field and its data. You will need to re-create a new field and then use one of the following tools to copy the data across:
Like @SeanHenderson said, it would be good to understand why you want to do this. There may be a better alternative.
Hi @HSheild ,
I have a field where I need to mass-change the values. Before doing so, I would like to keep a backup of the original value. The easiest way would be to make a copy of the field including the data and then change the value using flow. Just that iterating over a few thousand records with flow is sooooooo slow. A simple button within CDS to just duplicate a field (with an option "with data") would be just cool!
