Data Model Driven PowerApps

In the data model driven PowerApps is there a way to call normal Microsoft functions in calculations? I am trying to make a column with a calculation that contains a square root and a squared value, and it won't let me call the sqrt function or ^2 for the value. Is this possible to do in the data model driven apps? It seems like a simple calculation, but it keeps coming up with errors and invalid characters in the calculation box.

Hi @lena123,

There are a number of enhancements coming very soon around PowerFX and Model-Driven Apps.  The calculated field functions are supposed to increase 10x 😀

This was supposed to be in preview in June but I have not seen it yet but should be soon.

Hope this helps.  Please accept if answers your question or Like if helps in any way.

Thanks,

Drew

Hi @lena123,

It is not yet possible, but as @dpoggemann mentions PowerFX is coming to model-driven apps so eventually it might be where you would be able to define calculated column with PowerFX. If you need that now, then there are 3 common ways to acheive this:

  1. Calculate in Power Automate. Trigger a flow when the field/column/value is updated or created.
  2. JavaScript on load of the form or when the value is updated: https://docs.microsoft.com/powerapps/developer/model-driven-apps/clientapi/reference/events/form-onl...
  3. Plugins: https://docs.microsoft.com/powerapps/developer/data-platform/plug-ins

Hope this helps!
