Filtered choices

Hey all,

New to Dataverse and I've got a seemingly simple task I'd like to accomplish but have yet to be able to do it.

Essentially I want to have two choice columns. Column A = Group. Column B = Sub-group.

Is there a way to have the second column (subgroup) be filtered by the group that it belongs to?

My initial idea was to create a lookup table however I didn't get very far with it.

Any advise is more than welcome.

Hi @CameronTCD ,

Create two tables for Group and Sub-Group with a 1:N dependency (add Group to the Sub-Group table).  You can then add the Group and Sub-Group to your target table as two columns and utilize the capability to filter your sub-group based on your selected group in the Form setup for these two fields.  To do this, follow steps.

  1. Add both fields to your form on the target table that contains the Group and Sub-Group
  2. In top menu on the form "Switch to Classic"
  3. Select the sub-group field on the form and double click to get into the configuration
  4. You will see "Related Records Filtering" and if you select this checkbox to only show related records you will see the relationship to the "Group" for your "Sub-Group".  Following is example from Primary Contact on the Account Form (as this is related to the Account) and it will filter to show only the related contacts to the Account

Hope this helps. Please accept if answers your question or Like if helps in any way.
