Issues while moving a Custom API from a DEV Environment to a QA Environment

I created Custom API without any custom parameters and bound to an entity, tied it to a plugin as well. Everything worked properly in the DEV environment. I added everything to a patch of a grater solution and deployed the patch to a QA environment. After some tests I needed to remove the patch from the QA environment, fixed some issues in the DEV environment and installed again in the QA environment. After the second install I started to get further errors this time related to two SDK Messages with the same name, checked and the SDK Message created for the custom API was repeated twice, one for the first install (which should have been removed after deleting the patch) and another one for the second install. Now I have two SDK messages for the Custom API, calling the Custom API throws an error stating that there are repeated SDK Messages and I can not delete the older SDK Message because it is a read only entity which does not allow deleting. How could I solve this problem?

Hi @rbaryolo,

I assume you're using managed solutions? I don't think this issue is with Custom APIs, but with the solution and patches. To remove these unnecessary plugins steps:

  1. perform a clone your solution in Dev to rollup all the patches
  2. in your solution in Dev, ensure only the right plugins and the plugin steps are included
  3. Export your solution (as managed) and import into QA with options:
    1. overwrite unmanaged customizations
    2. perform as upgrade

Hope this helps!
