Lookup CDS Entity fields from a sharepoint list field, followed by patching the lookup value back into the original sharepoint list

Hello,

I have a sharepoint list where users populate entries into defined columns, e.g.

Column A

EntryA

EntryB

EntryC

I would like to lookup an associated field (CDSColumnY) in a separate CDS Entity with Column A entries as the relationship entity.

CDSColumn X | CDSColumnY

EntryA             | LookupfieldA

EntryB             | LookupfieldB

EntryC             | LookupfieldC

And lastly, I'd like to patch the Lookupfields (LookupfieldA, LookupfieldB, LookupfieldC) back into my original sharepoint List.

How could i display the required lookupfields in my powerapp (thru lookup functions?) and execute the patching as well?

thanks in advance,

V

Hi @vaevictis ,

Do you mean that:

1)in your sharepoint list, you have a text column named Column A?

2)in your CDS entity, you have a text column named CDSColumn X, a lookup column named CDSColumnY?

3)CDSColumn X includes all data in Column A?

4)you want to filter CDS entity based on Column A?

If so, you could try this formula:

Filter(entityname,CDSColumn X in listname.Column A)

Then you will get the related items in this entity.

However, I do not quite understand your second demand:

"patch the Lookupfields back into my original sharepoint List".

Could you tell me

1)the lookup field's related entity in CDS? data?

2)which field do you want to patch to in your sharepoint list? field data type? data?

Please notice that: the lookup field in CDS and in sharepoint list is different. Data structure is exactly different.

So you could not directly use data of lookup field in CDS to update lookup field in sharepoint list.

Best regards,
