Question on Power Query and Multiple Schemas

We have a single SQL Server that has two databases on it. Two schemas dbo. bi.

In a power apps dataflow power query I am wanting to merge two tables, one from each database together and then load into cds.

I can load them, I can merge them, etc. but when I go to try to create it in CDS it is saying there is an error with schemas. I'm assuming that is because the tables are from two databases? Is there a command or something to merge these or convert the schemas.

Thanks, Terry

Hi @Mattw112IG,

If you could provide some more detail/screenshots of the issue it would help with assisting. That said, merging and combing queries is a key capability of Power Query and Dataflows so that should not be an issue. The article below provides some good steps on how to bring combined and merged queries from SQL tables into Dataverse.

Hi @Mattw112IG,

It's probably not because it's a merge from two DBs. Are you system admin in the CDS/Dataverse env, might be a role issue? I would recommend anyways to always pre-create your table in Dataverse before as you will have better control on the table and column settings. Once the table is created, try to map to that existing table instead of creating a new one from a Dataflow.

Hope this helps!

I am admin for everything.

I think it comes down to size number of columns or rows or something?? I can get it to work to a point... but then if I add too much it seems to break it.

Did you try by creating your tables first? It's worth a try 🙂

No, we're talking hundreds of fields.  I did open a Microsoft support case though and trying to work with them on it.  Will update here if I figure out anything.

Cheers for the update. Keep us posted!

BTW even if it's 200 fields, I prefer to pre-create them in make.powerapps.com which is faster than classic solution explorer. I prefer the flexibility to define the data type and properties for future proofing...

That's a good point.  At this point though the dataflow has created the table and all the fields, it just wont populate the data and times out.
