Save New Form data

Hello All,

I am new to PowerApps.  I have created a canvas form and pulled through data via Office365users connection.  I have also added additional input controls on the form which I need to save.   I tried to create a new table didn't have permission to do so.  I was advised that "The new application lifecycle environments are already provisioned with a database so we just need to make sure you can access those. "

My question:  I am assuming that the Data verse tables are the ones I should utilise.  However, how do I know which one to use and how could the Data verse tables be preconfigured with every conceivable entity?

@hfdigital Every environment come with a Dataverse database and each database has certain standard entities (tables) that come along. User being one of them. But if you need to store additional info here, either you should be able to add additional fields to it or create a new table. Standard tables seen below,

you can see all existing data verse table and it's data at under data tab at https://make.powerapps.com/

you can also create new table based on requirement here and use them in your power apps..

Hi @hfdigital,

Start here to get a good overview of tables in Dataverse and working with adding new custom tables, editing tables, etc.  https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/powerapps/maker/data-platform/entity-overview

There is the ability to have multiple environments as well and this is something to be conscience of.  Normally there will be a "default" environment created but when you want to work with building applications in the dataverse and adding / modifying tables etc. it is recommended you setup a new Sandbox environment to do this and then you can even promote from the sandbox to production environments, etc.

Some helpful links here to give you overview of environments and then solutions (for promoting across environments):

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-platform/admin/environments-overview

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/powerapps/maker/data-platform/solutions-overview

Hope this helps.  Please accept if answers your question or Like if helps in some way.

Thanks,

Hi @hfdigital,

Welcome to the Power Platform and Dataverse! First you'll need to ensure you have the right licenses assigned to you to properly work with tables and Dataverse. Check with your system admin if you have either Power Apps Per User or Power Apps per App license assigned to you. Then, you need the right privileges and roles assigned within the Dataverse instance for customizations. The system admin will need to assign to you either System Administrator or System Customizer role.

As previously stated, only one Dataverse can be provisioned per environment so that's why you're getting "already provisioned with a database" error message. In addition to the links provided by @dpoggemann, have a look at: https://docs.microsoft.com/powerapps/maker/data-platform/data-platform-create-entity  which has quick and easy steps to create a new table.

Hope this helps!
