SubmitForm error - value must be a data record

Hi guys,

I need your help for a form issue within my travel expense app. First of all some background information about the app I developed for my company, so that you can understand better where I'm coming from:

I have created two tables on dataverse, one is called "Spesenabrechnungen" (Expense Reports), the other one "Spesenbelege" (Expense Report Details).  Both have a relationship with each other (1:n), the lookup column display name is called "Spesenabrechnungen" (cr3b7_spesenabrechnungen).

I'm working with different variables to make life easier, one of them is called "VarReport", which I use to store all the details for one record of the table "Spesenabrechnungen" (Expense Reports). Among others I store the title of the expense report as well as the unique GUID within it.

The user comes from a screen, where he selected one of his expense reports and where he can add all his expenses:

When he adds a new expense, he comes to a screen, where I'm using a form, because he can also save images/files - his receipts actually. 

And there comes my issue: I want to use the title/GUID of the corresponding expense report (in this case "Königskuchen", which you will find in the two screenshots above) and add it automatically on his expense report detail without any interaction of the user. He already is within the correct expense report and I even plan to hide this window from him.

When I try to save it, I always receive the error code "value must be a data record". Here are the details of the settings of the corresponding datacards so far:

 I prefer using the GUID instead of the expense title because I am afraid that some users will have the same titles as other users. The GUID instead is unique. Perhaps this isn't even necessary, but I just wanted to make sure.

I even think that there are two different solution/approaches for this. But I'm completely useless finding the right answer for it. One is by the formula "SubmitForm", but I don't understand the Lookup-field with the title/GUID very well. In my humble opinion this field is quite complex...

The other possibility would be to use the "patch" function because we are just talking about one single value which I have to store back to the table Spesenbelege (Expense Report Detail) in dataverse. But even there I failed all the times...

It seems that I found the error. In the lookup field I had to add a filter on the items side.

Instead of:

Choices([@Spesenbelege].cr3b7_Spesenabrechnungen)

I had to write the following filter:

Filter(

        Choices([@Spesenbelege].cr3b7_Spesenabrechnungen),

        Spesenabrechnungen = VarReport.Spesenabrechnungen
        )

I filter the lookup field by comparing the two GUID (the one in the table with the one in the variable).

And it works and writes back correctly the written data to the table with the SubmitForm Button.

I ran into some troubles with the SubmitForm function during my plausibility tests. And it seemed that the errors came from the following formula: {Value:VarReport.Spesenabrechnungen}

I therefore made some changes and now it works smoothly in all different circumstances:

 I changed the Items value back to:

Choices([@Spesenbelege].cr3b7_Spesenabrechnungen)

And I used the formula which I used before in the DefaultSelectedItems instead:

Filter(

        Choices([@Spesenbelege].cr3b7_Spesenabrechnungen),

        Spesenabrechnungen = VarReport.Spesenabrechnungen
        )

Now it works really well. I hope this might help some of you who run into the same issues as I did.
