Using Dataflows to create Parent-Child Records at the same time

Hi there,

I have an excel file that gets updated every week for all the activities details and I want to create a dataflows to automatically read this excel file and import data into the CDS entities I have created.

In my CDS setup, I have the Activity Summary as the parent entity and Activities Details as the child entity which having a lookup field to the Activity Summary. Each week, there will be a new Activity Summary record and all the activities details of the week should be nested under the parent summary record.

I have successfully created the dataflows which can populate the child entity Activities Details but I have no idea how to create the parent record and insert GUID number into the children records' lookup field to create linkage.

Can someone please help?

Hi @BluRonnie

I haven't tested this out in a long time but I do not believe this is possible.  I posted an Idea about this a while back so please vote if you would like this functionality added!

Hi @BluRonnie ,

Do you want to create linkage. between parent entity and child entity when importing data from excel to cds?

I'm afraid my answer is the same as @HSheild .

There is no way to achieve your needs in PowerApps currently.

You could vote for @HSheild 's idea, which means the same as your issue.

Here's a similar issue for your reference:
