returning related records into a canvas app

Hi everyone,

I have an app that is searching for boxes in a warehouse using a barcode.

The App tracks the progress of the box through the warehousing process.

I want the user to be able to at any point scan a barcode and return all related values (records) from CDS.

I've set up an entity with Barcode as the primary field and the related fields which will be input throughout the warehouse process.

I have a Screen with a Scan button and text box for the output of the barcode.

I want to then lookup and return all records related to the barcode output so that they can see the history of the box.

I've tried to build a form to input the results but am struggling with a formula to lookup the related record.

I'd be grateful of any help.

Thanks

Matt

The trigger can be the one you want :

  • As soon as you scan and set a variable or a textbox with the scanned value
  • A button to parse the related record
  • a change of screen

That part is definitely up to you.
But if you set a textbox with the scanned value, you can also perform the request right after getting the scan value so you will end with the value in the textbox as well as the collection containing all related records.

Hello,
Since you have an entity with the barcode value you could have a formula looking like (change with proper field names) :

ClearCollect(records, Filter(Entity, BarcodeField = ScannedBarCodeValue));

Thanks @carfup ,

Would I use the formula in the text box Default that I'm retrieving  the barcode scan to?
