Custom Sharepoint forms on-premise

Hi all.

I am new to PowerApps and am not finding enough information on how the integration between PowerApps and Sharepoint on-premise works.

Is it possible to make custom forms on an on-premise Sharepoint list as is described here:

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/powerapps/maker/canvas-apps/customize-list-form

Or is there another way ?

Also, for my users to use the custom forms made in PowerApps, do they need to have a PowerApps license aswell or do I create the custom form and then everyone who has access to my Sharepoint installation can use the new forms ?

Regards,

Halldor

Re: Custom Sharepoint forms on-premise

Hi @HalldorOrn,

Do you want to custom a form for a SP On-premise list using PowerApps?

If you want to custom a form for a SP On-premise list using PowerApps, I afraid that there is no way to achieve your needs in PowerApps currently. Custom form for SP list using PowerApps only supported within SP list Online currently.

If you would like this feature to be added within PowerApps, please submit an idea to PowerApps Ideas Forum:

https://powerusers.microsoft.com/t5/PowerApps-Ideas/idb-p/PowerAppsIdeas

In addition, for your end users, it is not necessary to have a PowerApps License to run the custom form of your SP list. The custom form inherits permissions from the SharePoint list, if the end users have enough permission to access your SP list, they could run this custom form.

More details about permission for end users to access the custom form of your SP list, please check the following Q&A:

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/powerapps/maker/canvas-apps/customize-list-form#administer-your-cus...

Best regards,

Kris

Re: Custom Sharepoint forms on-premise

Hi !
I haven't much informations to give you about the licensing part.
But so far customizing SharePoint list forms is only available for SharePoint Online.
Some capabilities are coming with SharePoint server 2019 which is going to be available very soon.

Re: Custom Sharepoint forms on-premise

Hi

Thanks for the reply.

We already have the 2019 preview set up and I'm not seeing the custom forms thing. Do you know what our other alternatives are to make custom forms for Sharepoint other than PowerApps if that is not an option ?

I already know of InfoPath but it's my understanding that Microsoft are moving away from it and "pushing" everyone to PowerApps and Flow (which is currently a problem for us on-premise folks).

Re: Custom Sharepoint forms on-premise

You should try a 3rd party solution, Plumsail Forms, for customizing SharePoint modern forms. It supports both, SharePoint Online and SharePoint 2019 on-premises and allows you to design rich forms with data tables, child items, hand-written notes, tabs, wizards and many other controls using drag-n-drop experience.
