Disable maker on default environment?

All users of of our tenant have E3 O365 licenses. The default environment has all users of the tenant down as having the ‘maker’ role. My aim is to allow users to consume several basic canvas apps/SharePoint form entry customisations however do not wish for them to have the ability to create their own apps. Is there a way to do this?

I understand that using the PowerApps capability within the Office365 licences is limited and I cannot create new environments because of this, however presumably no matter which license is used this problem will remain as my understanding is the default environment cannot be deleted?

Despite reading lots of docs and posts I am none the wiser. Is it possible to restrict as per my desire?

Thanks in advance for any assistance

Hi @philbart ,

Do you want to change the default permission in default environment?

I'm afraid it's not supported now.

All the users will be assigned with the security role of Maker automatically, which could edit and run apps.

And this is decided by system. You can not change it.

So you could see default environment is an open environment.

I could suggest you an alternative solution:

Create another your own environment.

Create a security role without the permission of creating apps.

Then assign all the users in the talent with this security role.

Best regards,

You can’t restrict users from being makers in the Default environment, that is by design. The Default environment is to be treated like a play pen where people can try things out and create personal apps that are not business critical.

Have you see the following article on Power Platform environment strategies? I highly recommend that you read this.
