License when using Azure SQL as a datasource

I am confused about licensing. I want to use an Azure SQL database as a data source for a PowerApp which is used by users who have an Office 365 E3 license. Is this possible or do these users need a separate PowerApp license, if so which one?

Hi @BartSchaap ,

Yes, you need to have PowerApps and Microsoft Flow Standalone plans to be able to use CDS.

Hi @BartSchaap,

As Azure SQL is a premium connector, each user will need a PowerApps license, either per app or per user plan:

https://powerapps.microsoft.com/en-us/pricing/

Users on E3 will still have an entitlement to PowerApps and can make apps connected to the standard connectors.

Thank you for your answer. As an alternative I could use CDS, is in that also a premium connector?

We have users with E3 and F1 license.

if we build the powerapp on azure cloud SQL. then only the developer of the app required the powerapps premium license or everyone who wants to use the application build on powerapps?

Every user who uses an app which uses premium connectors needs a PowerApps license. The license included in Microsoft 365 only allows the use of standard connectors
