License when using Azure SQL as a datasource

I am confused about licensing. I want to use an Azure SQL database as a data source for a PowerApp which is used by users who have an Office 365 E3 license. Is this possible or do these users need a separate PowerApp license, if so which one?

Hi @BartSchaap ,

Yes, you need to have PowerApps and Microsoft Flow Standalone plans to be able to use CDS.

Re: License when using Azure SQL as a datasource

Hi @BartSchaap,

As Azure SQL is a premium connector, each user will need a PowerApps license, either per app or per user plan:

https://powerapps.microsoft.com/en-us/pricing/

Users on E3 will still have an entitlement to PowerApps and can make apps connected to the standard connectors.

Thank you for your answer. As an alternative I could use CDS, is in that also a premium connector?
