Ability to have "Year Only", "Month/Day Only", etc., as a Date and Time field format OR ability to have number fields without commas

Author Name: ALICIA LINHARDT

Scenario: I want to put a "Year Established" field on the Account form. I don't know (nor need to know) the specific date the Account was established, *only the year*.

If I use the Whole Number field type, the value will have commas in it.

If I use the Text field type, the values won't have commas BUT I have to write code to ensure that end-users don't accidentally type something that is NaN. (Fine by me, but not them.)

Finally, since I don't know nor need to know the specific date, the Date and Time field type is inappropriate.

Considering all this, it would be nice if we either 1) were able to specify "Year Only", "Month/Day Only", etc., as a Date and Time field format and/or 2) were able to make number fields with or without commas.

A "no commas" format for whole numbers would seem most useful here without having to also worry about how to store a "year only" value in a date-time column in SQL, and avoid timezone issues etc.

I agree, additional formatting options for numbers, including a "no commas" option would be great. As far as the Year/Month/Day only fields, I'd rather see those options in Advanced Find/Views/Process Editor areas. For example, the ability to have a view where the Birthday field's Month is next month would be very useful.

Thank you for your feedback. Currently this is not in our immediate roadmap, however, we are tracking it and if we indeed get more feedback and votes, we may consider it in future. Thanks Anusha Shankar

A "no commas" format for whole numbers is a good solution as long as it's field level and not by user or organization.

You could also include Financial/Fiscal Year and specify the period, e.g. the UK Financial Year is 1st April to 31st March.
