When building a new custom connector, the dropdown to import makes creating a custom connector very easy.
However, when attempting to build a custom connector within a Solution, this option is not available and it goes straight to Edit mode.
As well, one cannot import a file/url, create the custom connector outside the solution and then add it to the collection. As per documentation this is not possible: Create custom connectors in solutions | Microsoft Docs
So now one is required to manually create a custom connector from scratch within a Solution.
