Ability to merge security roles

I'm working with an organization that has the same people doing Sales and Marketing. It would be nice to be able to merge the Salesperson / Marketing Professional roles, etc. Would save me from manually comparing the profiles and adjusting the dots...

(I know I could just give them both roles, but the client wants one role per person.)

Or if I could at least see the results of combining roles*** and make a copy of said results, that would save a lot of time.

Your client seems to have entirely misunderstood the point of role-based security if they want one role per person. For this scenario you will end up with three roles: sales, marketing, and "sales + marketing". If they later require you to make a change to allow marketing staff a privilege they did not have before (or remove one) you would have to remember to make this change in two places. If one of the people who does both of these things also oversees customer service, or project management or some other aspect of CRM, should you have another role for their hybrid use? And how much of a headache will this make role maintenance in future? While a tool to merge two roles to a third new one in order to make bigger changes might be useful, I don't think it is the right way to deal with the request from your client.

Thank you for your feedback. Currently this is not in our immediate roadmap, however, we are tracking it and if we indeed get more feedback and votes, we may consider it in future. CRM does have the capability to copy a role which you can use to get started on the new merged role. From there, you would just have to add the additional privileges from the other role. As pointed out by another user though, applying more than one role is supported and can easily be done.
