CDS remove items in Picklist

There is not possible right now to remove item that is not used in entity from Picklist that is used as column in such entity. There is error message being displayed that only new items can be added.

So if I'd like to update Picklist, I have to remove column in entity and then add and fill every row again. This is not user friendly. There is also possible to use Picklist for example in dropdown and if I'm not able to edit it when bounded to entity users will see items that are not used in entity.

So please my suggestion is to make possible to also remove items from picklist that are not used in entity that is using this picklist as a column.

The scenario in this case will be:

1) Error in case that item in picklist is selected/used in entity with name/list of entities

2) If not used in entity, make it possible to delete item in picklist

Hi @vecerpa - thanks for reaching out - the ability to delete picklists (option set) items from a list that has already been added to an entity that contains data is already available in the latest version of the Common Data Service for Apps.

The error message you're seeing will occur on previous versions. 

To access the latest version, you have two options - first is to wait for the update process for existing environments that should be rolling out later this month, or to create a new environment to get access to the latest features.

Thank you for your answer. It is quite hard to find out that something like this is already released in new version that is comming this Spring and month after.

I know that I was asking for some release notes some time ago and that there is only this link - https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/powerapps/maker/canvas-apps/release-notes, but I was not able to find any information about picklist update at all.

Is there any chance to find out somehow except to become MVP any plans/roadmap for future updates. It is a bit important for me to know it as I'm promoting PowerApps as the best possible solution for most of business apps.

Hi @vecerpa - while we try and make the release notes as detailed as possible, there are some items that aren't explicitly called out, typically if we haven't seen customer feedback or requests for that feature. This change was made as part of larger changes to our entity and option set metadata in the latest version, hence why is wasnt called out explicitly.

Including @Audrie-MSFT our Community PM who can advise of the best ways for you to get engaged outside of the MVP program.
