Changing mouse to hand icon when hovering over objects with OnSelect function

I have received some feedback from my app users that it is sometimes hard to tell when image or text is clickable. On the desktop version, when you hover over an image the icon remains the same or when you hover a text it changes to the edit text icon, the mouse icon seems to change to hand icon only when hovering over objects like Icons or Controls like Button control.

Example 1
The text in the Org Browser by Microsoft says View My Profile, when hovering over it with mouse, the mouse icon changes to select text icon.

Example 2
When using images as buttons, the mouse will stay as a cursor and will not change to the hand icon.

Example 3
Hovering mouse over the button. It changes to hand icon and it is clear that you can click it.

This is not a problem on the Phone since you click with your fingers but it confuses the users on desktop. Would it be possible to make all objects with functions in OnSelect property to have a <a> tag or something similar that it would force the mouse cursor to change into hand?

The fix to this will immensely help our users to know if the button is clickable. My users are currently confused as to whether to click or double click.

If the item has an OnSelect property the cursor should change if the OnSelect is NOT empty.   This would make it much easier for users to understand what they can click on and what they can't click on.

Using the OnSelect property to govern whether or not the cursor changes makes it work properly and won't cause the cursor to change when there is no reason for the user to click on it.

It's frustrating that this idea is 2+ years old and this is still missing functionality. I know most features aren't as easy to implement as one might think, but seriously, is it that challenging to change mouse hover icon for a few controls? Please add this ASAP! We're tired of covering all our buttons and clickable controls with transparent icons!

Agreed @AaronRichardson !

Still waiting! not very patiently! urgggg

Super User

@AaronRichardson  why would you cover your button with a clickable icon, unless you are making buttons from something other than a button control.    Buttons work properly, I cover my controls with transparent buttons.

Resolver I

@JR-BejeweledOne Buttons don't show as a clickable icon for me once I publish. They display just fine while in Preview mode, but once published do not show as a clickable object. This happens even if the Tab Index is set to 0... I saw this bug mentioned further up in the thread and assumed it's still an issue since I'm seeing it, but maybe it's a sporadic bug? In any case, my comment was referring to an all-inclusive button group, meaning any clickable object, not just the button control.

Super User

Wow! @AaronRichardson, I did not notice this at all... Thanks for reminding it here 😊

I see that users are waiting almost 2 years to fix this bug.
Please do it quickly, such a response (2 years waiting time) is not acceptable anywhere in the world.

Thank you!

This issue has been around for a LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG time. I can't believe it's not fixed yet. This will probably take 10 min to do. Instead they care about changing font and colors.
