Dynamics 365, SharePoint Document Management integration with the Portal

Expose Dynamics 365  / SharePoint Document Management through the Portal.  We would like the ability to add and display documents in the Portal that have been uploaded to Dynamics 365 and saved to SharePoint using SharePoint Document Management in Dynamics 365.

Our organisation is desperate for this feature. It gets my vote!

We have various interactions with partners from a contract management process.  Currently SharePoint is being utilized as the document collaboration process and sharing is through the external sharing links.  When sharing documents externally from SharePoint, permission management can be a huge issue, and has a few times exposed more information than we would like.  We would like to leverage CRM and its robust permission management strategy to allow only sharing content from SharePoint that should be shared and not have to train our internal users on being experts in managing permissions.

This feature would enable our Public Facing CRM to be a complete tool that enables the Commonwealth Government to interact with its citizens and business to innovate collaboratively in a trusted and secure manner.  I'm sure Microsoft want to be part of this journey.

As a developer I'm thoroughly baffled by the seeming inability to integrate Dynamics with SharePoint Online in order to allow external customers to submit and track Cases.

The built-in Dynamics -> SharePoint integration appears to be limited to storing documents associated with a given entity.

I was very excited to come across this page on the Dynamics 365 site - Installing Dynamics 365 Portals. However the actual instructions and capabilities are not spelled out. Is this an integrated Office 365 application or does it simply provide options to install third party apps?

Any and all help would be much appreciated!

This is a very common requirement for Public Sector customers.

Must have requirement! It's such a powerful ability in ADX v7, and appears to be very close to working in 8.x, I'd suggest it's very high value for what is likely a relatively low effort given all of the functionality already in place.

Of course that's easy for me to say when I'm not the one who has to figure out a replacement to the ADX v7 Server to Server SharePoint Connection Implementation 🙂
