Fields that allow calculations

Author Name: Steve Hughes

a field that allows a sum, avg, count, percent etc. of number fields would come in handy. Or fields that allow simple excel-style formulas, and excel-like functions.

this is a MUST have. you should not need to learn JScript, or become a developer and dig into an SDK to do basic customization work like adding or subtracting two numeric fileds (real time - NOT with delayed workflow). Customers want to change a number in field A and see the results in field B or C and any admin should be able to deploy this kind of basic functionality...again, without coding or learning code or hiring a coder.

Plus, since Salesforce.com has this capability, I'm getting sick of ex-Salesforce.com administrators complain about how Microsoft CRM doesn't do this.

Can't think of many "wish list" features more valuable/valuable than this one.

Maybe you can have a chat with your friends from the Dynamics NAV-team. They have had "Flow fields" for almost 10 years 🙂

We recently installed North52 Formula Manager. It does all this and much much more. I would highly recommend it to anyone. We now have hundreds of formula fields using this solution and I personally would rather Microsoft focus on other CRM imporvements than this one as I can't see them building a better solution.

I appreciate the suggestion of using the North52 Formula Manager. However, I am not pleased with the prospect of paying an additional $800 to $1,600 per year for a feature that is included as a standard feature in other CRM systems.

This is truly a 'must-have' feature and should be completely covered in the user interface (without code or scripting).

Just to note that there is a free standard edition of North52 Formula Manager which allows up to 10 formulas. So it costs nothing if you just need some calculations. And its way ahead of what Salesforce currently offer. Disclaimer: I work for North52.
