Get User details from CreatedByUser and ModifiedByUser field in CDM

The CreatedByUser and ModifiedByUser that are generated automaticallty for an entity just store a GUID for a user with no reference on how to obtain further information about the user.

Please provide a function that you can pass the GUID to and return Name, Email and Picture similar to the User() function which currently returns the details of the current User.

Hi tobystatham,

This is something that's on our list of todos soon.  We need to provide a way for you to understand who the user is (we don't even want to show the GUID - just something intelligible by a reader and can be followed to get more info on the user).  Will keep you posted!  Thanks for adding this to the list!

But understand that there are good reasons why we are using GUIDs (since they are unique). You may well have two different people called John Doe who are contributing to your data. In other words: You cannot rely on the names being unique.

I understand the reason why you need to do it, but I wasn't requesting to just store a name. I was asking for a mechanism to get the user's details with the stored GUID to make it readable. Currently just showing a GUID is next to useless from a UI point of view. We have nothing to reference it to,

Hi I don't know if you have found your answer but you can use

 Office365Users.UserProfile(CreatedByUser).DisplayName

Hope this helps
