Using the Quick Find search searches the Quick Find view (which by default pre-filters for active records for most, but not all, entities such as Accounts). It has worked this way since at least CRM 4.0. For a while the Outlook client for 2011 would search the view on the current tab, but this behaviour has now been reverted to match the browser.

In customisation edit the QuickFind view and you can from 2011 onwards set the filter. The filter will be set to just Active. Add Inactive and away you go

The afore-mentioned workaround by Julian does not work as the Quickfind view is a Managed System View and cannot be modified.

Thank you for your feedback. Currently this is not in our immediate roadmap, however, we are tracking it and if we indeed get more feedback and votes, we may consider it in future. The workaround suggested does work as part of the release - Service Enhancements 6.1.0. Please check screenshot for reference. ====================== Prashanth GanapathyRaj PM, Dynamics CRM, Microsoft ======================

The workaround is not sufficent since I don't want to search all active and inactive records. I want to search only those records which appear in the selected Quick Find View. For example, If I select the Inactive Accounts view, I want to search only Inactive Accounts, not All Active Accounts. And if I select My Active Accounts, I want to search My Active Accounts, not All Active Accounts

Excuse me, how can a feature be removed without any notice? And what's this sh... "Outlook Client quick find search box suggests search will be on current view." in the UR 16 release notes? Are you really trying to fool us? Our customer insist on this feature so we are now urging you to bring back this feature.

Why do you excluse a very performant feature that is really valuable for our customers? And furthermore, why are you trying to cover this action with a misleading term like "Internet Quick Search & Outlook Search have now the same experience." ??? Descrbing a loss of a feature with something like this in the releasenotes is an impertinence. Bring back the feature, and do it fast!

How can you set the status for this important and still not fixed issue to Resolved??? How many votes do you need to maybe add it to your roadmap? Issues must be fixed, features can be added to the roadmap and as everybody can read this clearly is an issue! A great functionality has been removed for the outlook client which makes customers go crazy, I think you should reconsider if your customers are satisfied with your current opinion regarding this topic. The quicksearch for the current view already worked which means the source code has to be somewhere so nobody can tell me that adding the part for the quicksearch again is a lot of work!
