Save attachments to SharePoint list item

My main blocking point right now, is that I can not attach files to SharePoint list via PoweApps edit forms.

I can create app which can manage orders in SharePoint list for my company in few seconds, but we are forced to keep original email request in list. For this we are using InfoPath which works fine, but PowerApps should be much more suitable solution.

Also we are using same procedure but with excel forms, for that is also important to be able to EDIT excel/word... attachment directly on SharePoint. So what I would like to have in DisplayForm/edit form, when I click on excel file attached, it will open my excel, let me edit it and save it back directly to SharePoint like is possible now with forms on SharePoint.

Once I will have those 2 things in PowerApps, my live will be much more easier! Smiley Surprised

Would like to use PowerApps in our company, but right now... its not possible

@FilipK  I am working on a large migration project at large fortune 500 client and all data with attachments is coming over great. I am using PowerApps to create a nice custom forms in my list and utilizing Attachment Control that is now a huge issue.

  1. I would like to know when the 10MB file upload will be increased to a reasonable size or close to the 250MB that is native in SharePoint online?
  2. I also want to know when we can open attachments in IE? I am working at client that only allows the IE internet browser to be installed on users’ machines. Currently no attachments can be downloaded or opened in the list with attachment control. IE is a Microsoft product where we assumed attachment downloads word work. I understand you can open attachment’s in other browsers like Chrome. All our attachments are now locked with no download option.

These two issues are creating huge problems for our project. The company decided to decrement and restrict SharePoint designer because of PowerApps was going to be used instead. Now PowerApps is here and the attachments are not functioning with the current attachment control. Attachments are the bedrock for SharePoint. I would think this would-be priority before anything else. I am left with very few options to creating a custom form. Please recommend anything possible solutions and timeframes of when the attachment control will be fixed/updated.

Thanks for your information in advanced,

@PowerNYCmakes a very solid argument...  Please address along with making the Title column width adjustable so users can finally embrace modern lists.

Power Apps

We are currently working on icreasing the limit.  Our final goal is to support 100 MB.  We plan to have an intermediary step where we support 30-50 MB, which is expected in the next 2 months.

Appologies for not having more concrete details, I will update the thread when we have clearer dates.

Hello @FilipK  Thanks for the upload update!   Please address the issue of attachments not opening in IE. This is huge problem to clients who only use IE as an internet browser.  All of our attachments are currenly  pirsoined in Attachement Control.  Do you have any time frame of when this will be fixed/upated?

This is causing my project major issues.

Resolver II

@PowerNYC - this says it is fixed

I am pretty sure they roll it out slowly to all.  Also not sure if you will need to remove/add the option to get the fix

Power Apps

There is unfortunately a problem with this fix;  We are looking to resolve it ASAP, and will keep you posted

Helper I

Back in February adding Word documents, PDF's and images worked fine. Now I get an error message as below:

Has something changed ?

Power Apps

@MartynLivDownload will work in other browsers (Edge, Chrome, Safari) but not in Internet Explorer.

We are investigating a fix.

How to tell if the attachment has been uploaded completely in PowerApps form? When I attach several documents and click submit item, oftentimes, only the first document has been attached successfully. Is it possible to add a progress bar that indicates the upload status of attachments?
