Save attachments to SharePoint list item

Hello,

My main blocking point right now, is that I can not attach files to SharePoint list via PoweApps edit forms.

I can create app which can manage orders in SharePoint list for my company in few seconds, but we are forced to keep original email request in list. For this we are using InfoPath which works fine, but PowerApps should be much more suitable solution.

Also we are using same procedure but with excel forms, for that is also important to be able to EDIT excel/word... attachment directly on SharePoint. So what I would like to have in DisplayForm/edit form, when I click on excel file attached, it will open my excel, let me edit it and save it back directly to SharePoint like is possible now with forms on SharePoint.

Once I will have those 2 things in PowerApps, my live will be much more easier! Smiley Surprised

Would like to use PowerApps in our company, but right now... its not possible

@joelai7, this is exactly the issue I've been having and described earlier in this thread.

I ended up having to open a support request with Microsoft who, after a couple weeks, acknolwedged its a bug and will be releasing an update.

There was no estimated date, I was advised to check the blog for new releases to see when the issue gets resolved. The support contact indicated they'd let me know when the issue is resolved but I'm not feeling optimistic they're going to remember little ol' me from a call a month or two prior.

Here's hoping we see resolution to this! Good luck!

We are not aware of an issue with saving multiple attachments?  I just tried it and seems to work.

Are you referring to not being able to select more than one file in the select file dialog?  Yes, that is a limitation, but you can add multiple files one by one by clicking Add file again, and save multiple files with one form save.

Hi again @FilipK

No, I'm not referring to being able to select more than one file in the select file dialog box.

I @ mentioned you in previous comments where I encountered this issue. I select multipe files, one by one, and when I submit the new list item, quite often only the first attached file gets uploaded to Sharepoint.

I didn't get a reply from anyone on my posts in this forum so I went to MS support and they ended up acknolweding it was a bug and would be fixed in a future release. (Service Request 118032217860635)

I'm concerned now that maybe I was misunderstood along the way and this isn't actually being worked on. Can you help me find out?

There may be an issue that no error is surfaced in the UI when multiple attachments are being uploaded, and one fails.  We are looking into this now.

@FilipK Any updates on the multiple attachments issue? Without the error message in UI or the progress bar to indicate uploading progress, user may not aware attachments are not being uploaded completely. Also, the 10 MB limitation is for the total attachments size not 10MB per attachment, correct ? Thanks

UPDATE: Support for adding attachments by selecting pictures from a gallery or taking one with a camera is expected to roll out in late June 2018.

However other attachments improvements, including increasing the maximum file size for new attachments have been delayed and are not expected to ship before September 2018.

Sorry about the inconvenience.

Hi again @FilipK,

Nice to see that Visio- and Project-files now are supported - great work! I have one more question: PowerApps Attachment has a limit of 6 documents. Is there a plan to support more file per item? SharePoint ListItems does not have this limit.

Best regards,

Sondre

The file count limit is actually controlled by "MaxAttachments" property.  6 is the default value, but you can adjust it as it suits you.

It looks like with the latest update, you can take a photo and upload it.  However, it doesn't actually work when creating a list item.  I've found you must create a list item, then edit the item and add an attachment.  that seems to work.
