Searchable Drop-Down control

It'd be great to have a filterable/searchable dropdown. This tend to become necessairy when your dropdown list gets longer than 10-20 items.

A similar behaviour can be done with a seperate search box... but from a UI standpoint, this isn't as elegant as it tends to take a lot of screen real-estate.

A first step would be to let the dropdown read the keystrokes so it position itself to the proper item.

FlipK, the document does not answer my question,The team needs to enable combobox option on data card customization section, this is not available if your source is SQL server.

Power Apps

@Raf are you saying that you can't unlock your card, delete the existing control and insert a Combo box into it?  Which step are you unable to do?

Hi @PytByt ,
yeah, the Combo box does that. It's a pretty cool control, give it a try if you haven't already. 🙂

@FredericForest

Ah! the combo box.. of course.

Can i use it inside a form?

Kudo Kingpin

I suppose so but I don't know for sure. I never use forms, I'm more of a Patch/SQL-Proc kind of guy ^^

Power Apps

That's right, combo box is the searchable "dropdown" control.  And yes it can be used inside and outside forms.

@FilipK

Can you show me how to patch a combo box that inside a form into a SharePoint list?

Kudo Kingpin

Hi @PytByt ,

Are you familiar with Patch methods? If so, getting for the value from the combo box is quite simple : MyControlName.Selected.MyFieldName.

There's a way to have the combo box select multiple items at once but I usually deactivate this since it doesn't work very well with relational data.

If you want more explanations on patch, check these two articles (I can give additional info if needs be) :

Cheers !
