SharePoint data connection to retrieve SharePoint group membership

We would like to get a user's SharePoint group membership via a data connection.

 

We have lots of older InfoPath forms that restrict visibility of controls and views based on a user's SharePoint group membership. The inability to check group membership via a data connection in PowerApps is a major stumbling block to being able to rebuild these forms in PowerApps.

 we could create an azure function to do that.

+1 for this. As someone looking to adapt InfoPath forms into PowerApps, this is the most glaring shortcoming I've found so far.

+1. There are lots of people out there trying to redevelop Infopath forms in Powerapps.

Work around is create a people group using the sharepoint group as the data source.
