I would like to be able to do the same thing in document libraries.

Wonder if this feature is on the teams radar? Seems to be a natural progression from SharePoint lists.
upvote as well, must have feature. I'm a little disappointed that document library lack so many features that lists have.
Same here...basic features that are working on list shall also be working on doc libraries;
Customize forms is one of them!
