addCustomView to subgrid

Author Name: MATTHIAS BACK

there should be a supported way to adding a custom view to a subgrid at run time!

The lookup control has the addCustomView method but this does not appear to function for the subgrids.

There existis a view workarounds, but all with unsupported code:

I was just looking for a way to do this today, and was very disappointed that it could not be done in a supported way. Excited to see that Microsoft may add this in a future release!

Is it just me that thinks it's crazy that addCustomView functionality is available on the lookup control, but not on a subgrid?  This would be so useful, but it's been years since the request was made.

this is one of the most used "unsupported features". I'm really disappointed that it's still not something available in a supported way.

What I have done is add a lookup field to the form, create the custom view on the lookup, then it is available in the subgrid.  The user has to select the custom view in the subgrid lookup to filter the list, but its better than nothing.  I can't set it as the default view in the subgrid, though, because IsDefault applies to the lookup.
