select language in PowerApps UWP App

The translation to the german (maybe not only in german) langauge in the designer is really horrible. Please provide a possibilty to change the language inside the app.

Hello @kamil-k!

We truly appreciate your feedback, and were wondering if you would be willing to share what you'd like to see improved in the German version of PowerApps as well. We'd love to see a bulleted list of pros and cons if you have the time to do that. Feel free to type in German if that is more comfortable for you, as we have a diverse team and plenty of translation tools Smiley Happy

The localization team is very interested in improving this experience for you. @linhtran is added to facilitate feedback collection with them.

Thank you for your continued feedback and patience as we improve these services, respectfully,

Audrie

hi Kamil-k, thank you for the feedback. My name is Elsa and I am working on localization of Microsoft PowerApps. Would love to hear more details on the German translation issues. Would you please give me more example?

I would also like to have the option to change the language inside the app. I just always prefer to use English.

I had another threat, but where asked to post my comments here also.

To PowerApps team.

You should add a settings menu in PowerApps to chooce the default language for design view and formula's. Now the languages is adjusted by the standard region languages which gives all kind of problems. For example:

  • in European languages the formula seperator is ; instead of ,
  • Formula's sometimes stop working correctly when the separator is changed based on language. (Search Formula is an example)
  • You have to change the language back to Englisch and build control again to let it work again.

I want to be able to work in my language by default and change the languages in the applications in which I'm programming solutions. Programming I always do in Englisch.

By the way - Using the englisch URL like posted in some other threats doesnot work in this case, because as soon as you open the powerapp for editing it chooses the default languages.

Would love this feature as well. As a developer you are just used to English, no matter what your mother tongue is. (Maybe this is the problem, as PowerApps isn't really targetting developers but end users? Just like Excel "programming language" which I really don't like in the translated version as well...)
Please make the language selectable

For my part I collaborate with colleagues having 8 different navitive languages, making it a complete mess to produce support guides / collaborate on development when what you see using a given url is different based on computer settings. Many European companies has settled on using English as the company language, even though they do not have native english speaking employees.

So a suggestion would be that we can have the option for locking the design surface to a any supported language, preferable being able to set a default on a tenant level , then the ability to overwrite on an individual level. The "runtime" could be as is, but better if that also could be controlled on a tenant + individual level.

Hope you will prioritize this.
