Override Portals Default Form

Below is a screenshot of a Portals page.

On the left is a list, in the middle is the Portals default form, on the right is Custom Form 1.

The list has the default 'View details' toggle activated, which reveals the View details page.

Is there a way to override the 'View details' button in the list view so that when it is clicked
Custom Form 1 opens rather than the Portals default form and populates with data specific
to the line item on which the 'View details' button was clicked?

Hi @Phineas

You can show any form you want depends on your choice.

In Portal studio:

1. Select the page > And click the list

2. On the right-hand pane, you can change it to the custom form. The screenshot below for reference.

Hope it helps.

Yep; the return is no record found. You can see the errror box in my original post. I can get the form how do I get the data. The data based on the line itemed clicked in the list, in the same manner the default form currently performs?

Hi @Phineas

Let's simply the steps and destruct what you are trying to achieve.

1. Create one more child web page> below the list web page

2. On the newly created view web page add a Form in the middle of the page. ( possibly with in a one-column section)

3. Select the form > and in the right panel. Choose your table and view ( Create new if existing is not available)

4. On the first entity list page > Select list and on the right panel option and set the view details to point it to the newly created view webpage. screenshot below

If the above setup is working, then you can continue using this in the same way which will open up a new web page when the view details button is clicked.

If you don't prefer to render on the web page, then switch to form which will load a modal.

Hope it helps.

To be clear, are you saying there is no way to program the 'view details' button on the existing list to open the form of my choosing in the location shown (without opening a new webpage), and autopopulate the form with data from the list as if it was the default form?

Right now if I click the view details the default form opens (is that a new webpage opening?), and it autopopulates the data.

My apologies, I misread your post. You can add more buttons using the OOB way. But I need to check mapping to another form apart from the default form.

The alternative way is to use fetchxml and build your entity list. Here you can add custom buttons and custom actions.

Example below

I will try to find the YouTube link last year which I presented. Meanwhile have a fun play with the above thread

Hope it helps.
