Pass value from one page to another with advanced forms

Hey,

I have created a advanced form. On the first page I create an order and on the second page I have a subgrid to add products to this order. I need to pass on the order ID to the next page, which I then use in the subgrid to select the order. I want to prefill this order field, so I can prefill the order ID field in the sales order product field. Is there anyone that can help me with this?

Thanks in advance!

@Anonymous , what you are asking for is doable using entity reference on entity form, lets take this use case:

1- Lets say the advanced form that creates order called "Create Order", first step the form will "insert" create order

2-the second step of the Create Order advanced form (lets call it Add lines to order) , will ask customer to add line items to order , which you will display order form with "line items" subgrid on it

3- on the subgrid metadata, define what basic entity will open when customer click on "Add/New" to create new line item and add it to existing order, lets call that entity form "Create new line"

Manar_2-1641581131512.png

4- now the curtail part, is to open the "Create new line" entity form and setup entity reference as below

This should work, basically steps 1-3 you are passing the order id to the entity form and in step 4 you are setting order id to the newly created line item on the order on save

hope this help

Hi @Anonymous ,

usaually, the id of the entity is passed in (automatically) to the next step as a parameter called id. In the second step, in the form definition (if its a form step) you can choose amongst various sources for the data:

chleverenz_0-1638704505400.png

So, either use the result from previous step or the id. (Or is this the problem, that the id is not send??). May, be the result of the previous step is what you want.

Is the second step an edit step (it has to be one, because the order is already created and adding lineitems means editing the order)?

I would highly recommend not to change the name of the id-parameters. I had many isseus with that and do not know, whether these are fixed.

Does this bring you nearer to a solution?

Have fun,

  Christian

PS i am rarely using advanced forms any more. There used to be a table carrying the results of the steps for the advanced forms (i think it was adx_webformsession). We had regularly to clear this one up as this was not done automatically. No idea. whether thsi is still true, but keep an eye on that one. (and i (better: our customers 🙂 ) often need more flexibility in navigation...)

Have fun,
Christian

How do I fill the specific form field? Basically I created an order in the first form and I want to create orderlines that relate to that order, so that means I need a new insert.

And my second step is a single subgrid with a create button from the subgrid that is based on another table that is called salesorderdetail. The create button opens a basic form. The first step is based on sales order. I want to fill the field in the create form.

And this is what the create button shows:

Now the first field requires an order to be selected. But we want that prefilled. Usually the method you explained works, but I feel this is a different circumstance. Is this even possible, and if so, how?

Hello,

On the insert Basic Form that you have associated with the subgrid (the modal pop up that appears when you click Create), you can add Metadata.

In the portal management app, open the Basic Form. Under related, select Metadata. Create a new Metadata record for the form.

Setup the metadata for the attribute representing the Lookup column you want to be prepopulated.

Scroll down a bit until you see the Prepopulate option.  Check the box. You have the option to select Query String; select that and then use the query string.  The default query string is likely set to “refid” so enter that as the parameter. Then, map it to the unique ID of the table represented by the lookup.
