Text showing formatting! How to strip this?

In our portal home page we are showing the latest forum posts.

In the template thats created I used  strip_html in the template and that worked fine to get the text readable.

But now I noticed that when someone writing a forum post and makes a space between two lines <br> <br> is shown on the home page. Even <strong>Update,&nbsp;</strong> is shown.

Its not happening on the first forum post, only on the RE: posts

Any idea how to fix this?

It might be when users make a reply on a forum post and copy paste content fram an email or from the webb but I am not sure. And if thats the reason is it some way to strip the html?
