Power Automate Fundamentals # 35: Usage of Equals Function in Power Automate

Power Automate Fundamentals # 35: Usage of Equals Function in Power Automate

Introduction:

In Power Automate, at times we must validate two values and proceed further if result is true, in these scenarios Equals function is used. As a scenario, name of the person and current years values were taken to show this function behaviour.

Step 1:

Login to the required Power Apps environment using URL make.powerapps.com by providing username and password and click on Flows on the left-hand side as shown in the below figure.

Step 3:

After Step 2, name the flow as Equals Function and take a parallel branch and add one initialize variable and name it as Set Name of the Person as Venkat  and provide values

Name: Name

Type: String

Value: Venkat

as shown in the below figure.

Step 4:

After Step 3, on the other side of parallel branch and add one more initialize variable and name it as Set Current Year as 2021 and provide values

Name: Year

Type: Integer

Value: 2021

as shown in the below figure.

Step 5:

After Step 4, now under Set Name of the Person Step take compose action and name it as Verify Provided Name is Venkat or not and provide the input values with the following syntax of equals function which returns true if expression evaluates to true

equals(object1: any, object2: any)

as

equals(variables('Name'),'Venkat')

and click on ok / Update as shown in the below figure.

equals(variables('Year'),2021)

as shown in the below figure.

Step 7:

After Step 6, now save and test the flow and observe the results when provided value for verification if same to the expected value, then true will be returned as result as shown in the below figure.

Note:

  1. Make sure to save and run the flow whenever you try expressions.
