Between July 18 and July 20, 2022, Power Automate Ideas will migrate to a brand-new platform powered by Dynamics 365 Customer Service Community.

On top of providing our community with a brand-new interface to share ideas, the migration will enable our product teams to be much more responsive to user feedback and better integrate your ideas into our product roadmap.

The Power Automate team is listening!

A new process for voting and managing ideas will be implemented as part of this change. Every month, our community team will review and triage all incoming ideas. Duplicate ideas will be grouped for easier search, and clarification may be requested from the author. Top ideas (ideas that get upvoted at least 50 times) will be sent to the Power Automate product team for review. During every planning cycle, the product team will review Top ideas and determine if and when they can be added to the roadmap.

Statuses for ideas will be updated as follows:

• NEW: New ideas recently submitted that haven’t been triaged yet
• NEEDS VOTES: Triaged ideas that need at least 50 votes before they are reviewed by the product team.
• TOP IDEA: Ideas that have gathered at least 50 votes, and are currently being reviewed by the product team for inclusion in the next release wave.
• IN BACKLOG: The product team has approved the idea for inclusion in the product backlog, without a committed date yet.
• PLANNED: The team has committed to building the idea which has been added in the official release plans.
• COMPLETED: The idea has made it into the product and has shipped!
• DECLINED: The product team has declined to build the idea at this time

With this new process, the Power Automate product team will be able to respond to your community ideas and incorporate more of them into the product.

How will the migration happen?

On July 18, Power Automate Ideas will go into “read-only” mode. The possibility to post a new idea will be temporarily disabled while we transfer all existing ideas to the new site: https://ideas.powerautomate.com

Starting July 20, we will launch the new site and you will be able to resume posting and sharing ideas. All ideas posted prior to July 18 will be made available on the new site with their new corresponding statuses.

In Power Automate one of the common scenarios was to extract Look up Field Text which will be a nightmare for the people who are new to Power Automate about how to extract details of lookup field. As an example, on update of Contact Table, Account Details will be extracted.

In Power Automate, during certain scenarios we must traverse all the records in excel file table and based on few conditions content in excel to be updated. List Rows action present under Excel Online(Business) Connector in power automate can be used. As an example scenario of updating eligibility of Employees based on Age explained here.

In Power Automate, at times we must join few items which received in the form of strings. As a scenario, response of the user was taken to show this function behavior.

One of the common scenario was to update data in Excel Spread sheets . To achieve this functionality automatically, we can use an action- Update a row into a Table in Power Automate under connector Excel Online (Business). As an example, after Sending emails to contacts, Employee details will be updated with sent Date time stamp in a separate column.

In Power Automate, at times we must validate values and proceed further if result is true, in these scenarios If function is used. As a scenario, response of the user was taken to show this function behavior.

One common manual work was to send emails to list of users, where this can be achieved by using Power Automate. As an example, sending emails through excel sheet from OneDrive considered to explain this.

In Power Automate, at times we need to compare values Min Function is used so that we can get easily desired result. As an example, let us see how to get Minimum age of 2 persons as well as minimum value from a given array of integers with the help of Min

In Power Automate, one of the common scenarios is to do some operations on current date. So, Add Days is one of the functions of its kind which works on the current date so that certain actions like sending an email to alert or give information to user as an example here I am adding 5 days.

In Power Automate, one common scenario is to get the path after the host which will allow to configure url’s easily between environments automatically. uriPath function is used to extract path after host in power automate.

Some flows might run more often than you expect. For example, you create a flow that sends you a push notification whenever your manager sends you an email (by the way this is an example from Microsoft Learn). That flow must run every time you get an email from anyone because the flow must check whether the email came from your manager. This action counts as a run. And it doesn't need to be this way.
