Add a new UI element selection tool DOES NOT add the UI element?

I am using Click link on a web page. In that, there is a UI element field. It is blank. In the UI element field, there is the functionality to Add a new UI element. If you click that, a pop up appears, and you are instructed to CTRL + Click to add the UI element on a webpage that you have up. When I do this, my selection does appear in the pop up box. So then I click Done to close the pop up box. However, the UI element that I selected does not get added to the UI element field in my Click Link on web page action. It is still blank. Is there something I am missing here?

I found the issue. I needed to install the Power Automate Extension in my browser. So for Edge/Chrome, I went to the respective browser extension store and installed. After that, it worked fine!

Hi @omarcus2

Instead of using the Add UI Element function from your Click link on web page step, try adding it via the right hand pane of PAD under UI elements (see below).  You can select them and rename them so that when it comes to using them in your step, you can see it by a logical name.

Hmm.. When i used the PAD and added the UI element. It does save my selection. However, when I added the Click link on webpage step, the UI Element is blank still with nothing in the drop down. The only thing I can think of is that I am on my work computer which has certain security programs and maybe something is blocking me? I have no idea. I am going to try this on my personal computer and see if it works.

I have the exact same problem. It doesn't matter which button I use the UI element will be saved but couldn't be selected. When I try to select it in my "Populate text field..." activity it states that I should add a new UI element, which I do, but that couldn't be selected either. Any fix for this? powerautomate_UIelement.jpg

Nice one @omarcus2, remember to mark your post as a solution as it may help others in the future.  I've got that one stored up top for next time it is asked though.

@Anonymous  Did you find a solution, I am having this issue today the solution the OP is using is not relevant to me as I have the extensions installed already.

So when you initially install the client, there are checkboxes about installing Chrome/Edge drivers etc. Even if you do this, you still have to manually install the Chrome/Edge extensions. If you installed the extensions and it still doesn't work. I would try to use a different browser. I believe Firefox is supported as well. Make sure Edge/Chrome is up to date, and restart the computer after you install the extensions just incase.

If you are still having an issue, not sure what it could be.

I installed them separately even removed and re added, updated chrome as well. My work system is also affected but my old flows still work with chrome I am just having issues with anything new.

For context.

Yes, I had the browser drivers installed as well, but that didn't solve my problem, however, restarting my computer did. After that the UI elements worked like it should.

Mine just started working randomly last night and today, oddly it would not work on Google and Bing last night but this morning it does.

I found how to solve this problem
I meet this for I close the tab I work before, and I try to continue with many tab's on chrome
Click the UI element on right, edit one UI (click edit selector) and click edit selector .
You will found some check are too detail so it might effect the random operation.
try left the only important html selector. the problem will gone.

If not ,delet the LAUNCH NEW xxxx ,OR delete all step that "will catch the web and do xxx",the problem will gone.

I had same issue but solved it by letting only microsoft edge browser have the extensions, and deleting the rest extensions added in google chrome and it started to work fine. So i beleive it gets confused when more than one browser's installed extensions ( power automate, and recorder) are in place.. If you face same scenario please raise the awareness so the team can fix it. Thanks all and keep going power automate , you rock.

Same problem but browser extensions are there. Some pages show frames/elements and other pages do not.  This problem occurs in both Edge and Firefox. There must be a work around for this!

Not everything you see on the web is a web element.  Try "click UI element in window" and see if you can find it in that dropdown.

Good luck!

Thanks for the response.  I am recording in Web Automation with two similar data reports on same site.  One page has elements for everything and the other only has elements in the left menu frame the report <iframe>.  Nothing to select. Source Pages appears to be almost identical.

Thank you again.  Click UI Element in Window found the initial Element 1. Download icon (in red below).

Download drops down a menu 2. (in blue below) CSV and XLSX that are not tied to an element in Web Browser or UI element in windows.

What might be the work-around?

After you click on the download button:

Send Keys {Down}{Enter} for csv

Send Keys {Down:2}{Enter} for xlsx

Down, Enter does not work with Send Keys or manually. It is expecting a click...

For those new to this...as am I, there are a few other ways to solve...The easiest is Move Mouse to specific position.  Move Mouse to image and move mouse to text are two others.  Screen resolution needs to be factored in...
