i have Automated one process for my department and i want that automation to be used by my all department users .
what i have done is i have shared that desktop flow to one user , but that flow is not running on his machine , its running on my machine .
can you post the clip of the desktop flow how you shared and what you are trying to automate.
hope you are not using this connector to call your PAD. if you are using this, then it will call the machine it was configured.
hey yes i am using this connector only
below is clip
and below is some background
i have created few Desktop Automation flows those are running on my laptop fine , so now i have to share those flows with my collogue , so that they can also run that flow and use it. so i shared those flows with some users and created machine group and added those users in that group , so now what is happening is if i run that flow that is executing on my machine which is fine , but if any other user runs that flow its still executing flow on my machine only.
what i want is i want to share those flows with users and it should independently run that flows on there respective machine only
i have 3 flows like one , two and three and this option i am giving in my my chat bot , so basically user will be selecting any option from (one , two and three) and that flow will run ( i am calling desktop flow from power virtual Agent ) as shown in below image .
i this bot will be shared to that department and any user selects that option then that flow should run and execute on that user machine
Log in to Power Automate (cloud).
Select Desktop Flows, you may need to set up a trial - after which it should show you all Desktop flows.
Select the flow and you can share it so that other people can run it but not edit it.
Yeah , but it will still run on my machine only right even if i share by this method ?
Have you tried this yet? --> https://docs.microsoft.com/nl-nl/power-automate/desktop-flows/manage
I think thats the answer to your question:)
thanks for reply , yes i have tried this but i am having issue is like , suppose if i shared flow with you , and when you run the flow its executes on my machine , i have that issue any suggestions on this ?
Ah i see..
Go to 'Machines' and create a 'Machine group'. You can add users in that group who you want to share your flow with. When they want to run the shared flow, it runs from that shared 'Machine group'.
https://docs.microsoft.com/nl-nl/power-automate/desktop-flows/manage-machine-groups
what is the scenario you are trying to do in Power Automate Desktop (PAD)?
between when you share , please share in Desktop Flow not in Cloud Flows
So when the user login in to PAD they will see PAD flow under "Shared with Me option"
user can directly click on Run button to execute in their desktop
if you are running a attended Flow approach then it will take only the provisioned machines only.
Hey , i have done exactly the same but my requirement is that suppose i have 10 users i have to share this flow with 10 users and it should run separately on there respective machine only .
and as far as i know machine group works like load balancer , if one machine is busy with some flow then another machine will execute that
Very strange. Sharing my desktop flow like this (https://docs.microsoft.com/nl-nl/power-automate/desktop-flows/manage ) was the solution for me. You sure this didn't work?
yeah i have shared Desktop flow only not the cloud and yes i am running as attended only , so you mean to say need to run as unattended , and it will run and execute on there machine ?
🙂 independent execution from their desktop PAD. if you start your trigger from flow.microsoft.com then you will have the issue. but as i understand you want every user to run on their own desktop. if they login in to PAD, they will see the Desktop flow if it was shared to them. directly click on Run command will slove the issue. hope you are not giving any input variable and taking output variable back to flow for any update.
There's another way that someone has mentioned some time ago, simply go into your PAD flow, press CTRL+A then CTRL+C and paste that into a notepad / .txt file. do this for every subflow you have in your flow (have a separate .txt file for each subflow), then zip those files up and send em via email or something. The person on the other side now simply has to unpack those files, go into each .txt file, press CTRL+A, CTRL+C, then go into PAD, create a new flow and in there click on the empty space in PAD and paste via CTRL+V.
Yes this will save all your ui-elements, images, etc. it does have a little bit of trouble when it comes to input/output variables though.
i usually do this for my training provided to pals. when i create a PAD flow, i just share them so they can execute on their own desktop to check and review the scripts written inside. but you dont share as co-owner. just as user
ok in past i have shared as co owner let me retry
